Nov 2005: TAGB British Championships

The 2005 TAGB British Championships were held in the Skydome Arena Coventry in November.

Clare (pictured below in white suit) from Northampton South, took part in the ladies' red belt continuous sparring:

side kick turning kick

jab side kick

blocking a kick hook kick

cross side kick

Alan (pictured below with the black collar) from Northampton South, took part in the executive men's black belt point stop sparring and patterns:

spinning backfist crescent kick

axe kick axe kick

jab cross

side kick oops

Despite good performances on the day, Clare and Alan didn't make it past the first round, but they both had fun and enjoyed the experience of competing at a national level.

The TAGB also made use of the day for other TAGB related presentations. Kam was presented with his 4th degree blackbelt, which gives him recognition as an international Tae Kwon Do instructor.

The Skydome arena is an ice-hockey stadium first and foremost. When the ice is covered with flooring, the place is ideal for a tournament, with space for 15 competition areas arranged in a 5 wide 3 deep grid, encircled by raised spectators seats.

The pictures above were taken towards the end of a TAGB tournament day back in 2004 - when it was less busy! These tournaments really give you an idea of the sheer numbers and quality of the TAGB community.
