Mar 2006: Open Day Demo at Caroline Chisholm school

On Saturday 11 March 2006, Caroline Chisholm School hosted a 'get active' open day. Since this school is where Kam's Northampton South club trains, we were asked to put on a series of shows during the day.

Unfortunately the main hall where we usually train was busy with other events such as line dancing, so our demos took place upstairs in the smaller dance studio. During the day, we ran a series of free taster sessions, where the general public could take part in a mini 30 minute Tae Kwon Do beginners lesson.

We also performed a demonstration, which showed the audience different aspects of the training we do, including stretching, line work, patterns, pad work, sparring, self-defence and breaking. The demonstration involved children and adults of all ages from the club. Since we usually train separately in different classes grouped by age, this gave the older members the opportunity to see how well the younger members of the club were progressing, and also gave the younger members the chance to see some breaking (since breaking is not practiced in the children's classes for health and safety reasons).

Here are some photos from the day...
